Attention all kids and teenagers in the Dudley borough!!
On the 16th of April 2004, the Sikh Youth Alliance (SYA) is
challenging YOU to a competition.
To Win a “Sony Play Station 2”. If you think you're up for it. Read
on!...................
On this day, the SYA will be holding two competitions for ALL kids
and teenagers in the local area. The day will begin at
11am at the
Wellington Road Community Centre.27 Wellington Road, Dudley, DY1 2UB and will end at approx
5 pm.
When you arrive, you will be asked to register your entry details
then introduced to the SYA organisers. Then you will get the chance
to take part in some thrilling sessions on a giant screen. After
this session, the competitions will then commence.
The competitions are as stated below:
1) Poster competition
If you are aged 8 to 13, get your paint kit and colour pencils out.
All you have to do is make a poster with the theme of
“Unity” and
give it in to your school before the beginning of your Easter
holidays or post it to Abdul Gafar, Education Officer,
Dudley Racial
Equality Council, 16a Stone Street, Dudley, DY1 1NS by the 10th of
April. The best three posters will be
awarded with a prize.
2) “Sony Play Station 2 TOURNAMENT”.
If you are aged between 10 to 18, you could enter a multi wide
screen tournament between you and your opponents on a play station
game. But why would you enter a tournament between you and the whole
of Dudley?? Because the first prize is a Playstation 2!
3) Film Premiere! - "MISTAKEN
IDENTITY" goes beyond the wrath of 9/11. Moments after the
Attack on America, Sikh Americans became victims of racial
profiling, verbal abuse, physical attacks and killings nationwide,
simply because they wore turbans and beards.
To top it all off, we will also have a martial art demonstration by
some of our very talented and impressive youths. Food
will also be
provided during the course of the programme so there is NO reason to
miss out! The prizes will be presented
at the end of the session. As
